Location

Sayulita

Sayulita is a small town in Mexico along the Pacific Ocean at the south end of the state of Nayarit and north of Banderas Bay. It has long been a favorite surf spot in Mexico, dating all the way back to the 1960s when this sleepy little fishing village was “discovered” by surfers from the U.S. and Canada who wandered south of the border in search of good waves and mellow vibes. Over the past two decades, Sayulita has become a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to Puerto Vallarta (40 minutes north), fun local culture, small town vibe, large artisan community, great food and amazing shopping.

White Feather Healing Center

White Feather Healing Center (WFHC) is nestled on the family property of Billie and Tim Taylor, Corazon. This exquisite compound was originally built with the intention of providing a place to gather family and friends for fun, healing, and restoration. Over time the property revealed itself to have a deeper purpose.  It was a sacred site to the indigenous people of this area and maintains a special energy. We have come to believe that when you spend time here you not only absorb the energy contained within but leave a bit of your own energetic footprint behind. We see ourselves as stewards of this place and its precious energy.

Getting there

Air

Fly into the Puerto Vallarta airport, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR). Many major airlines fly non-stop from major US cities on both the east and west coast.

Getting to/from Sayulita

Sayulita is located in the State of Nayarit, 25 miles north of Puerto Vallarta.  By car it takes about between 40 minutes to an hour to get there from the airport.  The airport is located on the Northern edge of Puerto Vallarta.

SUGGESTED OPTION - Car service

We have an excellent car service we work with, they are happy to pick you up and deliver you (with cold beer or water and a stop at the grocery and/or ATM). If you would like for us to coordinate this for you, please add “Round Trip Transportation - PVR to Corazon” to your retreat package. Otherwise, use the contact information below:

Contact:

 Sayulita VIP Transportation

Contact name: Antonio Garcia

Either call or contact via Whatsapp +52-322-109-4229

Please mention that you are coming to Corazon and are a guest of Billie Taylor. They will likely need to contact us to confirm which address to drop you at.

Pricing:

The price for 2025 is approximately $200 round trip for up to 3 people. If someone is going back to the airport separately, let them know when you book the car. The person traveling back to the airport in a separate car will be charged approximately $105 one way. We will not be able to help with payment or pick-up issues unless you have booked through WFHC.

Address for Car Service:

If you are staying in a Deluxe Private Casita, you will be going to 105 Islas Marias.

If you are staying in any other accommodation, you will be going to 129 Avenida del Palmar.

Bus

There is a public bus that leaves from the PVR airport and goes to the bus station in downtown Sayulita. Our property is a 10 minute walk from the bus station or usually you can hail a taxi from there. Check sayulitalife.com for details on which bus to take, where to find the bus and how much it costs (you’ll need close to exact change in mexican pesos to ride).

Taxi

Taxis are available from the PVR airport to Sayulita. Taxis available at the taxi stands at the airport generally have a higher price due to the airport taxes. We recommend that instead, you walk across the walking bridge over highway 200 (when you get outside the airport and look to the left you will see it).   Hailing a non-airport cab can get you a cheaper fare (about half?). The taxis hold three or four people.   Standard tip is about 10%. Please note the fare will be one way rather than round trip back to the airport at the end of your stay. For general taxi pricing, please go to sayulitalife.com.

Getting around Sayulita

The Corazon property is a 10 minute walk from town so you will not need to rent a car or golf cart unless you are staying additional days and plan to leave town during those days. If you need anything from town during the retreat, there will be designated times where one of the Corazon staff will drive our golf cart into town for those needing to run errands.

Golf Cart or Car Rental

If you would like to rent a car for your stay before/after the retreat, we like Gecko in Bucerias the best. If you’d like to rent a golf cart for your stay, we have limited parking so please check with us before renting to ensure there is a space for you. The car service recommended above, Sayulita VIP Transportation, also rents golf carts, but really any of the ones listed on sayulitalife.com are fine.

TO BE REVISED BY HEIDI, CHERYL AND HEATHER -

Required

  • Light long sleeve layer for dinner outside each night (either a light jacket, shawl or heavy shirt)

  • A re-fillable water bottle (you can drink the tap water on our property!)

  • A notebook or journal and pen for note taking

Suggested

  • Bathing suit, if you plan to use the saltwater pool or go to the beach on breaks

  • Easy shoes to slide on and off

  • Exercise clothes for walks, hikes and yoga

  • A good book to read on breaks and at night

  • Bug spray if you are sensitive to mosquitos (we usually have minimal mosquitos but it varies year to year)

General packing notes

Dress for the week is casual and comfortable.

Keep in mind that Sayulita is a tropical location so shorts, tank tops, sandals and light weight clothing are usually most comfortable. The weather is usually mid-seventies to lower eighties during the spring but you will be in the shade with ceiling fans during the day. Night time can be a bit chilly so pack a light jacket or long-sleeves for evening dinner outside.

Think light, flowy and comfy!

What to Bring

Schedule

TO BE EDITED BY HEIDI, CHERYL AND HEATHER -

People who arrive before Day 1 may be able to have their individual buzios reading with Henrique during the day on Day 1 before dinner. We will also sometimes schedule a free skill share workshop during the day on Day 1.

Each retreat will officially begin on Day 1 at 6 pm with a plated group welcome dinner (usually Sunday)

Most days will begin at 7 am with morning chanting and prayers, followed by a fresh breakfast buffet.

During each day, there will be a combination of group work, council, healing, ceremony and many surprises thrown in!

You will have short breaks throughout the group sessions along with a longer break after lunch is served (buffet style).

In the evening, we will all sit together for dinner (sometimes plated, sometimes buffet) in our outdoor dining area. After dinner, around 8:30 pm, you will be free for the remainder of the evening.

Retreats will end at lunch time on Day 7. Closing council will happen that morning followed by a lunch buffet which you are welcome to take to go on your way to the airport.

Massage Appointments

We host two (sometimes three) massage therapists on the Corazon property during the retreat. They will take appointments for 90 minute sessions during the afternoon break time Day 2 - Day 6. The cost for a 90 minute session is $150. You can either add the cost of a massage onto your reservation or bring cash to pay your massage therapist directly.

Please email us to schedule your massage! Due to availability, we limit massage appointments during the retreat week to 2 per person.

Included food and beverage:

  • Breakfast buffet Monday - Friday

  • Dinner Monday - Wednesday and Friday

  • Coffee, tea, water & agua fresca beverage station

A note about our food

Meals are prepared locally by our wonderful caterers. Food is organic, as much as possible, and locally sourced. As we are a beach town, we have incredible seafood and often try to highlight that. Though it is not common in Mexican food, we are constantly trying to add more fully vegetarian and vegan meals for everyone during the week.

Not Included:

  • Lunch Monday - Friday

  • Breakfast before departure on Saturday

Dietary restrictions

Our caterers are able to accommodate most dietary requests, please make sure we know of your dietary restriction minimum 1 month ahead of your retreat.

We are able to accommodate the dietary restrictions below, which means that you will have options at every meal. You may not be able to eat all items provided but will have plenty to fill you up.

Dietary restrictions that can be accommodated without additional fees:

  • Vegan/Vegetarian

  • Pescatarian

  • Gluten-free

  • Dairy-free

All buffet meals will have many options that you can pick and choose from (all breakfasts and some dinners). For the plated dinners, you will be served the meal that best fits your dietary restriction.

*Please note: for plated meals, each meal will have two options covering all the dietary restrictions above. You will get the dish that closest matches your dietary restriction. That may mean that you will be eating vegetarian food as a gluten or dairy free person when the regular dish has gluten or dairy.

Have a different dietary restriction? Send us an email to discuss!

Safety and Money

money

  • This little beach town subsists on mostly a cash economy, but lucky for us things are changing fairly rapidly. Plan to pay cash (mexican pesos) for most items while you are here. Outside of the provided retreat meals, we use an estimate of $50 per person per day for meals. But that said, there is more use of credit cards now than ever before, so give them a try at most restaurants and shops.

  • Don’t bring large amounts of cash or travelers checks to exchange when you get here. We prefer using Mexican bank ATM's to get pesos given their safety and good exchange rate. Call your credit card companies before you leave home and tell them that you will be in Mexico using your cards, otherwise they will likely decline any charges to them. Some credit card companies also charge large fees for international purchases so look into that before coming down.

  • We recommend on arrival having your driver stop at a bank so that you can get cash at a bank ATM before you get to Sayulita. Once in Sayulita please only use ATM machines that are inside stores, restaurants or at the bank. Do not use the ones on the street as those are often corrupted. There are two banks on Revolution, which have ATMs.

  • You will need cash to tip your massage therapist if you are booking a massage during the retreat. You can do this in either pesos or american dollars, however, they prefer pesos.

Safety

Our little surfing town is very safe, however, whenever traveling to another country we suggest the following precautions:

  • Don’t walk into town with large amounts of cash

  • Leave super expensive jewelry at home

  • Take a friend when walking off the property at night

  • Don’t walk on the beach at night unless your with a group for an activity

  • Make sure the gates to our property stay locked at all times and lock your door at night when your sleeping

  • Keep your valuables in the safe in your room, including your passport (just don’t forget it when you leave!)

MIsc.

  • Call your cell phone provider and check if you have coverage in Mexico. If not, add an international plan for the time you're in Mexico, if you plan to use your phone (though at Corazon you can use the wifi for your messages, internet and facetime).

  • Bring your binoculars for bird and animal watching, there are some really cool ones here.

  • Bring a small flashlight with you for night wanderings.

  • We do have two dogs, so if you are dog sensitive please let us know.

  • The lights on the property automatically go off at 12:30 am

  • Familiarity with the language will serve you well here.  Go to You Tube and check out “Que Hora Es?” a silly Spanish language soap opera for those who have had 3 weeks of language classes (tongue in cheek).

We have a few rules here at White Feather Healing Center to ensure the best experience for everyone:

  • No smoking on the property

  • There will be ABSOLUTELY NO RECREATIONAL DRUG USE DURING RETREATS (please note that this is not a plant medicine retreat, and in fact, plant medicine can be harmful to the group during this experience)

  • Unwanted sexual advances, comments or attention will not be tolerated between guests, staff or anyone on site during each retreat

These rules are in place to protect you, the group and the property from having any disturbance in the energy field or uncomfortable situations. Anyone who violates these requests will be asked to leave immediately with no refund.

Guidelines

Cancellation Policy

TO BE EDITED BY HEIDI, CHERYL AND HEATHER -

We know that life gets in the way sometimes and plans change. That’s why we are happy to offer a full refund (minus CC processing fees and the $500 non-refundable portion of your deposit) up to 2 weeks in advance of the start of the retreat.

We hope you can understand that by the 2 week mark, it is extremely difficult to fill your spot and we have already paid fees to the Brazilians, our caterers, teachers and prepared for the retreat assuming your attendance. After this point we are unable to provide refunds except under extenuating circumstances (see Terms & Conditions page for more info on this).

We encourage you to reach out to us if you would like to attend but are not sure you’ll be able to.

Staying before or after the retreat

Room Rate

We welcome you to stay over or come early and make your time here a real vacation. Please reach out to us or check the Price List to get the nightly rate for your accommodation before/after the retreat.

Activities

We are happy to suggest our favorite companies for each activity, but as a very small family team we do not have the resources to book these for you. Please use the links below to reserve any activities before/after the retreat and email us if you need any help.

Sayulita has many of Mexico's best surfers so it's a great place to learn to surf (getting lessons with some of the best requires advance planning), paddle boarding is a big sport here as well.

Our favorite surf instructor is Risa with Surf It Out and you can rent a surf or paddle board at any surf shop in town.

There is horseback riding, trips to the Petroglyphs, a catamaran to the Marietta Islands (whale watching too!), home of the blue footed boobies and snorkeling, many jungle tours and wonderful restaurants.

Sayulita is known for its wellness community and thus we have many yoga studios with a variety of different types of classes. Our favorites are studios Rose Room at Don Bonito Hotel and Hotelito Los Suenos.

There is a new wellness space in Sayulita called Alchemize House where you can go to take an exercise class then hop in the sauna and end with a cold plunge. We highly recommend it!

We also have wonderful massage therapists available at any time during your stay (there is an extra charge for this and making your reservations ahead of time is advised).

Food

There are several restaurants close to the house (between Corazon and town) that are quite nice.

La Puesta - 3-5 minute walk - a new luxury hotel around the corner from our property. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the water, though can be chilly so bring a jacket! The food is high end mexican food and quite delicious, though not an inexpensive meal.

Jakal - 5-10 minute walk - (just past the pizza place on the left after the school and Tropical House) our go to favorite, an easy stroll from CORAZON and dependable quality food at a great price……great mole, mostly seafood and veggies……great margaritas.

Just down the street from us on the left, going towards town, is the new boutique hotel Bonito (3 minute walk).  They have lovely breakfasts, coffee, tea, brunch and smoothies.  They also have Yoga classes.

Continuing down the street, towards town, to the first street past Jakal is the street Miramar.  Turning left there you will find the Northside Cafe (7-10 minute walk), another good breakfast place, very popular.

Rubens (15 minute walk)- from the plaza go to the street with the flags - Rubens will be on your left and they have the best sandwiches in Sayulita. They will also be catering some of the meals during the retreat.

L’Ulivo (10-12 minute walk)- if you want something other than Mexican for dinner you should choose this new Italian restaurant.  He (Giovani) is from Sardinia and the food is really good.

Alas Blancas - If watching the sunset and having dinner on the beach is what you are looking for then head into town on Palmar (the street in front of our villas)and have a lovely dinner at Alas Blancas.  Food is delicious, price is middle of the road and you can’t beat the location!

Wakika Ice Cream - Got a sweet tooth? Locally owned and made, Wakika is an amazing place for ice cream, sorbet and local fruit flavored waters. Just after Tropical House and about a 5-7 minute walk from CORAZON.
